If you missed the boat on this, there might still be free tickets floating around. A friend told me today that she has a few extra - they may be available, so ask if you need them.
I'm hosting a Magic Flute Crash Course for Kids at my house. There will be music (two arias in particular are AWESOME and we'll get familiar with 'em), costumes, acting out some of the crazy scenes, and a general outline of the story (it's just plain nutty/weird/convoluted, and a good idea to get a grasp of it beforehand!). If you know the story and some of the music before going to the opera, you'll get a lot more out of it... well, unless you are fluent in German, I suppose. :) Want to come? I haven't picked a day/time yet, so let me know what works for you.
